Will someone please tell me how to find a pair of binoculars?
I have explained in simple, easy to understand language. Probably explain the differences as the roof prism, porro prism, wide angle, angle rate, what to stand for X, as I do not know how to look for a small pair of waterproof which brings things to close for road use on a ship or birdwatching. Maybe a certain brand and type can be suggested? I believe that the Bushnell is suppose to be very good, but they are costly because of the name? I see a lot of Nikons and wonder if they can be best buy? (I'm Leary of Olympus, because they have many remanufactured products so there). Any and all suggestions and info will be much appreciated. Thanks. Also, please explain the field of view, angle of view and if some can be attached on a bench three feet without an adapter. And it should look for lenses fogfree only? Do ATB (allterrain) them to be better because they are more stable?
Porro vs roof first. Roof prism binos binos are those with two parallel tubes, they are straight out, very compact, very sleek. Porros are Bino classical form, has an offset between the rear (occular) and the first lens (objective) lens. Here's a rule of thumb, binos for under $ 150, stick with porro. Porros are easier to make, and therefore cheaper to binos that usually good quality glass. Over $ 150 then it's all of roof area, because they are waterproof and people good as the best ones cause they look prettier. field of view of a Bino determines how much area you can cover. Usually given to something like 400 'to 1000 yards. This is important if you use it for birding or when you should scan an area for something. If you already know where your target is and just have a better look, there is that big of a deal. For birding binos you want to find the large field of view. There are other things you should ask. These are things generally listed in the box. 1. First, the lens coating. There are three levels of clothes, from best to worst they are, fully multi coated, multi coated, fully dressed. Sometimes listed only as FMC, MC or FC. 2. Prism type, BK-7 or BAK4, BAK4 are generally better than BK-7 3. For reinforcement, stay with binos under 10x, anything above would require some sort of image stabilization or be mounted on a tripod. 4. For roofs, look for binos with phase correction, sometimes pointed noted as PC-3. For use in a boat if you want one that has image stabilization, they are expensive. Bushnell are priced well, they have some crappy binos and some of them very well. I own a pair of 8x26 Bushnell Legend in, pair awesome for the price. Nikon binos do great, but they have some crappy there as well. I do not care much for their action series, but series travelite of them are great.
